Walk With Christ 2014: Day 4

Day 4: Follow

"...whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." -D&C 1:38

Read: Mosiah 2 and focus on verses 5-6, 1 Peter 2:21
The Journey:
  • What counsel do you remember from last General Conference? Print out your favorite talk(s).
  • Write down the counsel given and place it somewhere that you will see it often. How will following this counsel strengthen your testimony of Jesus Christ?
  • How will you apply that counsel to your life today?

"We must not, we cannot sink to the evils of the world-- to selfishness and sin, to hate and envy and backbiting, to the 'mean and beggarly' elements of life. You and I must walk on a higher plane. It may not be easy, but we can do it. Our great example is the Son of God whom we wish to follow."

President Gordon B. Hinckley

Day 4: Seek

"I'll seek the Lord early while in my youth, and He will help me to know the truth..."

Consider: Christ's question to Mary, "Whom seekest thou?"
The Journey:
  • Examine your life. What is your greatest need?
  • Set aside some time today to seek the Lord.
  • Find in Christ the answers you long for. Dare to reach a new level of understanding.

"Seek the real things not the artificial. Seek for everlasting truths, not the passing whim. Seek for the eternal things of God, not for that which is here today, gone tomorrow."

President Gordon B. Hinckley

Walk With Christ 2014: Day 3

Day 3: Faith

"...All things are possible to him that believeth..."

Read: Mark 9:17-27
Consider: The father's statement, "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Are there areas you wish for stronger faith?
The Journey:
  • Take time to identify and write down an area in which you feel challenged.
  • Take this challenge to the Lord. Plead your case in prayer. Ask for greater faith, then be still and listen to the promptings that will come.

Walk With Christ 2014: Day 2

Day 2: Pray

Pray, He is there. Speak, He is listening.

Read: Moroni 7:26
The Journey:
  • Ponder the five Characteristics of prayer given in this verse. Choose one step that you will focus on.
  • As you kneel and pray tonight, thank Heavenly Father for His Son, Jesus Christ. Share with Him the reasons why you are grateful for the Savior. Let Him know what your knowledge of Christ means to you.
  • Pray at least twice today.

"Many prayers are spoken while we are one our knees. But siletn prayers of the heart also reach to heaven. We sing, 'Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed.' Sincere prayers come from the heart and access to our Creator is limitless. He is reachable at any time and any place.
President James E. Faust

Day 2: Listen

Hearken unto the voice of the Good Shepherd.

Read: John 10:1-18
Question: Do you know His voice? How often do you come when you are called?
The Journey:
  • Think about how you have learned to recognize the voice of the Shepherd. Make a list of the moments when you have heard that voice and heeded the call.
  • Find one way to "hear" His voice today.

"How are prayers answered? Often we pray for help with a significant matter, Heavenly Father will give us gentle promptings that require us to think, exercise faith, work, at times struggle, then act. It is a step-by-step process that enables us to discern inspired answers."

Elder Richard G. Scott

"The Savior taught, 'Whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name it shall be given unto you, THAT IS EXPEDIENT FOR YOU.' At times it is difficult to recognize what is BEST or expedient for you over time. Your life will be easier when you accept that what God does in your life is for your ETERNAL good."

Elder Richard G. Scott

Walk With Christ 2014: Day 1

Day 1: Come

If you want to know who Christ is, "Come and See"

Consider: The fishermen left their nets to follow the Savior
The Journey:
  • Determine what fils your nets. Are everyday challenges (schoolwork, fears, busy schedule, anger) holding you back from developing a relationship with Christ?
  • Today, try to listen for the Savior's quiet invitation to "Come follow me."

Don't Be Fooled By the Outward Appearance.

Don't be fooled by outward appearances.
Once you actually see what is happening underneath,
sometimes, it's not a pretty sight.
Once you devote yourself to someone for life,
Problems that were once small, become big.

Be careful:)

3.15.2014

Ironic Isn't It?

Ironic how we complain about something,
Expecting it to change, but knowing it can't,
Then when it doesn't change,
We get upset and start complaining about it again.

It seems to be a never ending cycle of stupidity.
Awesome.

Free?

I have had this serious urge to just clean up everything.
Yesterday I went through my Facebook friends list and...
Tada!! I only have 84 friends on Facebook now,
and honestly, most of them are family:)

And the past few days, I've spent 8 or so hours decluttering my room.
I have a big trash bag just full of crap that I don't need/want anymore.
My closet is really empty now too.
I used to have 2 huge boxes full of crap...and now I don't have any boxes:)
I used to have things covering my desk and shelves,
but now they only have a few things here and there:)
Huzzah!!

I feel slightly free from so much crap.
as weird as it sounds, it's just nice:)

Toxic

Toxic:
acting as or having the effect of a poison; poisonous: a toxic drug.
This could be anything.
People, things, places.

But if you so desire,
you can remove that toxin from your life.
If it tries to pry itself back into your life,
be strong and don't allow it to come creeping back in.

If I Could, Then I Would

Oh mistakes:)
Hint to you all:
DON'T LET YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS TEXT FOR YOU.
It sucks.
Way bad.
Haha, but no matter.

I am loving the weather.
I can just sit on my bed with the window wide open to let some fresh air into my bedroom,
without freezing my butt off:)
I can drive around with my windows down,
I can go to school without a jacket now,
I can start wearing other things besides pants,
((although I already wore skirts a lot before))
And the best thing:
I can get my "feel good" sunshine rays naturally,
versus using my "happy light" ((but it worked well when I used it during winter:)))

I still love cloudy days where the sun doesn't shine,
and the clouds make shapes across the sky as rain is released from them,
and the puddles form everywhere,
but every so often, the sun's bright light,
and clear blue skies, and warmth
can be quite comforting:)

Another thought I had today as I was walking across campus...
I have decided to change "grumpy day" soundtrack.
I usually listen to Pandora when I need fresh music,
and I started today off by listen to my hard music because I wasn't too happy.
But as I was starting to walk to my class,
I decided to make a "LDS Hymns of Worship" station.
Rather than making me remember all of the reasons why I was upset,
making me even more down and angry,
it made me think of things that actually matter.
It made me think of the Savior and how I can turn to him to comfort me,
It made me look around and see others as Children of God
and it made me happy:)

It is now my new favorite way to "de-tox" from things I don't need to worry about it.

Try it. It's great:)

haha. and the part that made me the happiest inside,
I was walking around the hallway with my headphones in,
and no one would have ever guessed that I was listening to church music:)
